Answers to the questions we hear most often about driveways, patios and landscaping across South West London and Surrey. Still not sure? Get in touch for a free estimate.
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
Not if you use a permeable surface (like permeable block paving or resin bound) or drain the water within your property. Paving over 5m² of front garden with a non-permeable surface and no drainage does need permission. In conservation areas, extra rules can apply.
How long does a driveway or patio take to install?
Most domestic driveways take a few days to around a week, depending on size, the surface chosen and how much groundwork is needed. We give you a realistic timeframe in your written estimate.
Why does the sub-base matter so much?
The sub-base is the compacted foundation beneath the surface. It’s what stops a driveway from sinking, cracking or rutting. Most driveway failures come from a skimped sub-base, not the surface — which is why we never cut corners on groundwork.
